Church Recreation Leadership and Training "Mission Statement" Procedure

Youth_Camp_2.jpgThis is so simple most people don't do it.  This is the number One thing to do first.  Take a sheet of paper and list everything that you want to accomplish in Activities Ministry.

Throw caution to the wind and list every thought no matter how silly or trivial it may seem.

Look into your heart and ask yourself “What do I want to see happen in the lives of the people who participate in our Church Recreation Ministry?”

Once you have the list made you need to develop your Mission Statement.

Write out your mission statement that summarizes what you want to see happen in the lives of children, youth and adults who participate in your church activities programs and why you want to see those things become a reality.   It is important to be specific and list WHAT and WHY for each thing you want to see happen.  By now you should understand the correlation between WHY, WHAT and WHY?

Read your mission and goal statement and make it convey exactly what you want it to say.  Make it as concise and clear as you possibility can.  Be brief and not wordy.  Choose your words carefully. Share it with some of your other leaders and ask them if it is clear to them and does it convey what you want it to convey.

Consider HOW.   Your impulse is to jump to the next step of How and skip the first steps of Why, What and Why.  Spend time on this section.  Give your program every opportunity to reach its full potential.

Do you understand why I say WHY, WHAT and WHY?  If not, go back and study the first steps and keep asking yourself why I put them in that order.  When you fully understand the statement WHY, WHAT and WHY you will be ready to Plan the Programs that will produce the results that you are seeking.

Stop !!!  Do not go futher until you have finished this step.

WHY you are doing what you are doing.

What
you want to accomplish in your ministry.

WHY you want to accomplish it is critical in the planning stage of this program.

It is crucial that you know WHY you are working with young people so that you can acheive your goals.

Once you have this list and your mission statement, then and only then should you go to the next step.

How does it feel to be this focused on the spiritual growth of your youth group, your ministry and your personal leadership?
