Appoint a Committee

One of the first things a Pastor or Church without a Youth Minister should do is appoint a Youth Committee if one is not already in place.  Below is a suggested organization chart for Senior High Youth.  If college -career and middle school or Jr. High Youth are included you will need to add representatives from each group.  Bible teachers or Sunday School teachers are usually the most interested and willing to serve in the Youth Program.

The most successful  youth  ministries offer the youth of the church and community an exciting and spiritual environment that helps each young person grow in their relationship with The Lord Jesus Christ.

In order to provide this environment the youth of the community have to be reached and brought into contact with people who are growing and are willing to share their faith personally.

It is important to create the atmosphere that "The Church is the place to be."  In order to accomplish that task every young person who visits must feel welcome and go away wanting to return.

All types of activities have to be used to attract the young people and then it is the job of the youth ministry leaders to minister to them when they come.

This happens only after a lot of detailed planning.  When properly planned the youth ministry of the church will provide exciting and meaningful programs.  It is important to consistently evaluate those programs to see that they are accomplishing the purpose for which they were planned.  "Christ must be the center emphasis of all activities and personal evangelism must be the vehicle for bringing youth into these Activities"

For a detailed step by step planning process go to:
Youth Planning Program   and follow the program step by step instructions.  The committee members may want to skip certain steps but each step is a very necessary step to insure a successful and an  exciting youth ministry.
